The biggest issue would be whether or not you want to use the Django 1.2 CSRF protection. Once you upgrade to 0.9.1, it shouldn't be that hard to upgrade to tip.
Since tip does include some bug fixes and improvements as well as CSRf, I'd recommend going to that version.
