I started writing to this Google Group because I had many doubts when
installing Satchmo. I think I have worked them out now, but instead of
simply deleting my email, I choose to still post my doubts, to give
the maintainers insight into how I was able to be confused over smth
which is hopefully very clear to you people. Some of it is more of a
bitbucket issue than on your side, but I will still let you know.

If you think I should just have deleted this email, then I apologize.
I am simply sending it to you as feedback.

In the heading of the installation guide it says: "Satchmo v0.9.2-
development documentation". I take it that this version is called
"v0.9.2-development" and that development means smth. like beta. Am I
wrong? It could also mean that it is "development documentation", i.e.
for people who want to develop with Satchmo, but dont we all?

Anyway, since there is very little information, and indeed no
installation guide, for any other version, I take it that you
recommend using exactly this version 0.9.2. Right? On the other hand,
on the front page, in the menu on the right, under the "Get Code" sub
menu it says: "Satchmo 0.9.1 Release", with no similar link for the
9.2.1 version. It would really be nice if it was explicitly
recommended which version to go with.

So let's say that I am running Django 1.1.1 and am not able to upgrade
that at the moment, then I can not install Satchmo 0.9.2 since it
requires Django 1.2.3. So I would like to download a previous version
of Satchmo, namely the most recent release of Satchmo that works with
Django 1.1.1. This is not easy to tell from your website. In the list
of documentation there is also a list of "Additional Notes", e.g.
"Satchmo 0.7 Release". These pages describe added features. It could
be really helpful if they also consistently described which versions
of Django they are compatible with. And while I am at it, it would be
great with a mention on the release date as well.

Fortunately, specifically for release 0.9 it says "Fully compatible
with Django 1.1", so I would like to download this version. So I click
"Source Code" and go to bitbucket. I think I know how to get a
specific revision with hg, but I can't really work out which revision
corresponds to 0.9. Hmmm... Tags has a list of nice and clean version
numbers. I click v0.9, but it says "Removed tag v0.9", ahhh, so when I
clicked "v0.9" it just found the revision whose revision description
text matched 0.9.

Now, in Download I think I found what I need: v0.9. Still, the
description is: "Removed tag v0.9" confuses me. Both: a) it does not
sound like a description of a release, b) that the tag v0.9 is removed
is inherently contradictory to the fact that this is release 0.9.
Well, I choose to ignore that, and I download it.

Ok... I was almost about to follow the installation guide on the
homepage (i.e. 0.9.2), but fortunately I found the installation guide
in the downloaded 0.9. Maybe it should explicitly say int the
installation guides for which versions they belong/work. It looks like
I am going to succeed anyway :)

Thanks for supplying this powerful framework :)

Sincerely, Thomas
