I had a bit of trouble figuring that out as well. I don't recall having to override my urls. This is the path that I have given Google base and it has been importing weekly now for quite a while. http://yourdomainname/feed/atom/ When I go to it in my browser it gives me my product feed with all the items and their descriptions and what not. It picks up the xml just fine from that.
