And after digging into the code, I found the problem, the cache was
being intended to use, but while the request was getting cached, the
response didn't, a boolean got set up:
needs_cache = True
around line 170 in shipping.modules.canadapost.shipper but that was
never being used. Since I couldn't find why to leave it for later, I
just stuck a
cache.set(cache_key_response, tree, 60)
right after that. It still takes a long time, but about 20seconds
instead of over a minute, and I'm sure it's other parts of satchmo
that are taking this time.
