Do you like big machines? If so, this is your big chance to take a
behind the scenes tour of a power plant (now inactive). The tour
lasts an hour and a half, and you are welcome to stick around after
the tour for more observation. Children are welcome, but please use
your own discretion in determining whether your child is appropriate
age and maturity wise, after reading the warning below.

Why this is so much fun:
The Steam Plant is not code in any area. THIS IS A POWER PLANT. There
is hot exposed switchgear at eye level throughout the plant. It used
to have 2,400 volts running through it. 1,000 volts will kill a
person. The bannisters are too short. The staircases pitch is too
steep. The plant is painted with lead paint. The plant is filled with
asbestos although it has been encapsulated. Many pipes are lead.
There may be live steam and running equipment throughout the plant.

How to get there:
It's a bit tricky the first time. The museum is right on the north
west end of the runway. Once you get to Ellis Ave S, and Warsaw,
you'll drive through a short parking lot to get there.
