I do hate to see a good shop close his doors but due to economic
downturn and a need to move on, the owner of Science Art and More
(http://www.scienceartandmore.com/) on 65th is giving up the ghost.

This is a boon for those who tinker (or want to buy their kids
something that
doesn't come from ToysRus.)

He has lenses, petri dishes and tons of lab equipment at a substantial
discount. Don't be discouraged by the empty appearance of the store,
much of the science equipment is still there behind the counter.
Charts
of cow anatomy! Skunk skulls! Inflatable solar systems!

My husband and I (for our steampunk lives) acquired a crank handle,
odd bottles,
a real frog skeleton, posters, books, a mysterious brass object for
putting holes in corks, three metal test tubes, petri dishes (for
goggles)
and a tiny bottle of real gold flakes.

They even have this giant (working) thing that looks like something
from Dr. Frankenstein's Lab with bolts of electricity shooting out
from it. I think we need it for the clubhouse.

Let your geek flag fly!
