One word of warning on doing this - Depending on the internal layout of the monitor, you may have to do some soldering to get this to work.
On the monitor I disassembled the column driver board and row driver board were connected with a ribbon cable running over the panel, and they blocked a large portion of the screen. There was no easy way to move the panels without soldering an extension on the (very fine pitch) cable, so I gave up and put the monitor back together (still works!).
