Hello digital creatives, new media artists, makers, and the like! Below is the updated schedule for Dorkbot and friends' one day conference FrayedWire on Saturday, July 11th, including five workshops. The workshops are limited in size (10-15 people each), so please save your spot by registering now at http://frayedwire.eventbrite.com. Full descriptions of workshops and presentations are on the program page: http://frayedwire.com/program. If you want to sign up for more than one workshop, email [email protected]! Want to get in for free? We need volunteers! Again, email [email protected]. We're also excited to announce Leah Beuchley, who invented the Lilypad Arduino <http://web.media.mit.edu/%7Eleah/LilyPad/> kit, donated a kit to FrayedWire, which we will be using as Prize for Best Wearable Accessory! You'll have lots of chances between the workshops and the open lab space to come up with something fabulous. Also, feel free to bring tools & junque materials for the open lab space to use in your making. *WORKSHOPS* 11:00-12:30 Basic Electronics for Artist by Christopher Prosser, Dorkbot [10 spots] *11:00-12:30* *Working with Fabrics: Conductive Thread, LEDs, and Soft Switches* *by Jennifer Darmour [10 spots, (still working out details, registration opens next week)]* *3:00-4:30 * *Electroluminescent Wire (EL Wire) for Beginners* *by Mike Begley, Workshop [~10 spots, drop in]* 3:00-4:30 Processing by Joseph Gray, Grauwald Design [12 spots] 3:00-4:30 Cool Ideas for the Arduino by Joshua Kopel, KolaborationStudio [15 spots, buy/bring an Arduino] *9:00am - 6:30pm All Day Open Lab* *Space with Best Wearable Accessory Contest: Win a LilyPad Arduino* * PRESENTATIONS* 9:00-9:30 Welcome and intros by Shelly Farnham 9:30-10:30 Augmented Ways of Seeing by Ward Cunningham, AboutUs.org *(opening talk)* 11:00-11:30 Philosophy in Motion by Jeff Brice, Cornish 11:30-12:00 To Breathe in the Digital Realm by Susie Lee, Artist 12:00-12:30 A Brief History of the 9 Evenings: the Theatre and Engineering Event that Started E.A.T. by Robin Oppenheimer, University of Washington*1:30-3:00 Discussion: Incubating an Arts/Tech Incubator **by Genevieve Tremblay, Cultural Entrepreneurs* 3:00-3:30 Technology Shaping Art by Sumit Basu, Microsoft Research3:30-4:00 Bird Translator by Mark Zirpel, University of Washington4:00-4:30 Collaborative Video for Dance by Robert Campbell, Cornish: 4:30-5:30 Inventions in Music and Kinetic Scuplture by Trimpin, Artist *(closing talk)* Special thanks to 911 Media Arts Center and Youngstown Cultural Arts Center for all their support, and to Ignition Northwest for sponsoring our coffee service!
