Finally found the cause of the inconsistent behavior of MSIE hiding the menu
when the mouse was over a link that is under the submenu: the submenu must have
a defined background, otherwise MSIE take the submenu as transparent
(completely and blatantly ignoring the fact that blocks inside submenu have
defined background and as result the background is not transparent at all).
