Follow-up Comment #5:
Maybe an idea would be to show in the list of cc cc that has been
automatically added. That would fix bug #308 and provide users the ability to
remove themselves.
That said, I think such CC should not be removable by anyone else than the
recipient.
For instance, if you submit a bug or a comment, the CC automatically added
would be removable only by you.
Bug we would probably not change the tracker specific configured notifications
(category notifications, global notifs...). We would not provide, even to
admin, the ability to, per item, override the tracker setup (that would create
fuss to easily, I think; one user that mess with his notifs his is own
business, limited consequence - it's not the same with trackers notifs).
There are two ways of implementing that:
- showing in the cc list addresses that of recipient as the system find
them
- simplify the code, remove the part that guess on the fly who should be
recepient (submitter, assignees) and, instead, add every recipient in the
table that handle supplementary cc.
This should make even easie to deal with user specific configuration (add me
in cc if i have this role) but that would be non retroactive (unless the
system do checks and add cc everytime).
I'm clearly in favor of option two. That would make the whole stuff easier to
understand for users and more finely grained (someone could remove himself for
cc of a specific item without changing his general settings). The drawback,
that could be avoided, seems not critical (I'm not sure we should even spend
time to avoid it).
Since this is heavy changes on the notification system, this should occur only
on branches.
