I encounter the same problem at the moment.
My system is also a Debian Sarge
>From toying arround with the php files (adding prints in a few places in
index.php and database.php I could deduce that after the line:
conn = @mysql_connect($sys_dbhost,$sys_dbuser,$sys_dbpasswd);
nothing happens anymore (placing a print "test" directly after it won't yield
anything p. ex. .
