Unfortunately, the request was made orally so I don't have any record of it.
However here is how I explained what I implemented:

As we discussed and agreed, I just implemented and put online
a new browsing option in Savannah. It gives the possibility
to users who browse items using search criteria for BOTH the
'summary' and the 'original submission' fields to have these
two criteria ORed instead of being ANDed.
Practically this appears as a checkbox which is displayed only
when the query form used includes both 'summary' and 'original
submission' and which is marked:
Apply logical OR between Summary and Original Submission Searches
As for other search criteria, the state of this checbox is saved
in the user's preferences for browsing items of that particular
project with this particular tracker.
