Follow-up Comment #14, bug #2122 (project savane):

I found today a page that provides recommandations in this regard:
http://www.w3.org/QA/Tips/font-size

Not very though, "A certain trend among designers, believing that small text
gives a Web page a sleek appearance and provides more space per "page" for
actual content, sometimes results in the use of unreasonably small font
sizes" is clearly valid for the past where were defining main page to be
smaller than the browser configured size, resulting in having parts that
really have to be smaller to be extra-small, sometimes not readable.

Several month later, I'd say I'm quite happy with the approach of using the
default size for the main content.
