thanks for the help. should I apply all the scripts in order, in
increasing number of the update directories.
Will they interfere with the updated content in the DB (what savane 1.2
wrote into it, including the initial population of the DB) or will they
fix only the inconsistencies?

These should be fixed by other update script. Have you applied all the
scripts in directories update/ ?
