Follow-up Comment #2:
We synchronized /etc/passwd at the same time than the download cron job. It
doesn't occur since I postponed the cron times.
I do not know exactly why that would make the cron crash. There was nothing
special in our specific sub (just create another set of directories for the
FTP upload thing).
Weird, huh?
