Details:

I downloaded Savane because it was simpler than SF or GForge. I couldn't
find any other ones out there, so Savane it is!

But, I am saddened by the lack of proper documentation for usage. Thus, I
have a multi-part question about a portion of the setup.

After creating a project and approving it, I am allowed to setup download
directory, cvs directory, etc. on the backend settings of the project's
super-admin page.

But, setting these to just any existing directory on the server does not seem
to work.

For example, I created a project, foo. I setup a cvs repository on the
webserver at /savane/cvs/foo, but setting this path results in the following
on my Savane user page:

Software repository :

export CVS_RSH=ssh

cvs -z3 -d johndmann@:/ co <modulename>

Webpages repository :

export CVS_RSH=ssh

cvs -z3 -d johndmann@: co foo

If you note, there is an incomplete cvsroot, and the first repository command
is even missing the module name! Very strange. And this is my first issue.

The second issue is setting the files/download directory. I set this to
/savane/files/foo for this project. I can't find anywhere to upload the
files at (I suppose I have to FTP them to the server? Or is there a page
somewhere in the project admin that I can not find?) On the project's user's
view, all I see is

Below is a list of files of the project. You can access the project download
area directly at http://

and the selection link/box for choosing the version to display. If you will
note, the "project download area" doesn't even have my domain name in it! I
noticed, as well, that on Gna.org, it just takes you straight to a directory
listing, containing the files... Is my installation of Savane different for
some reason? (My installation says Version 1.4, just like this site, but I
know yours may be customized differently.)

Well, those are my two main problems. I can't figure out how to get those
two things to work (and thus, projects can not make file releases yet).
