Hello, I recently discovered that Gmane [1] is back online, and has a sister: Gwene [2]. news.gmane.io and news.gwene.org (mirrors of each other) give access to the RSS feeds of quite a few mailing lists. For example:
health-dev.gnu.org > gmane.comp.gnu.health.devel health.gnu.org > gmane.comp.gnu.health.general savannah-hackers-public.gnu.org > gmane.comp.gnu.savannah.hackers.public The synchronization of these groups with mailing lists seems quite good. In Thunderbird, I find it easier to subscribe to a feed via an NNTP gateway than via the "Blogs and News" account (which requires searching for the feed address). Also, subscribing to an NNTP group gives access to old messages, whereas in the Blogs and News account Thunderbird only downloads messages that appeared after the date of subscription. Would it be possible to add a paragraph to the listinfo pages [3] about the RSS gateways if the list messages are available through them? It would also be convenient to find a link to the listinfo page on the archive index of each list [4]. This isn't the case for health* or savannah-hackers-public (or for most mailing lists, actually). Thanks, Thérèse [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gmane [2] https://gwene.org/ [3] https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/LIST_NAME [4] https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/LIST_NAME/
