+1, I get around 10 KiB/s.

You can use the mirror in this format:

    https://https.git.savannah.gnu.org/git/<PACKAGE-NAME>.git

But it is quite unfortunate that push/pull URLs must be different.
Usually, authenticated ssh access seemed fine despite scraper spam.
