Resolution: Not a Bug
The mail you're referring to is a drescription of how to use the *new*
insert_metadata from the SVN version. Version 0.9.3 only has what's now called
insert_metadata.server (iirc) which returns a source and hooks the insertion
function as a server command. If you need access to the insertion function you
need to use SVN (or write a wrapper around the insertion command if you have no
other choice).
