David Baelde commented on LS-563:

Sorry to step in a little late... I like the idea of learning liquidsoap in
public transportation, on the beach, etc. Our current documentation is not
written with this in mind, it's more a reference than a tutorial. So it could
be an interesting addition.
A good idea would be to get a feeling of the market. Concretly, you should ask
on the mailing list who would be willing to pay for a book, and what they would
expect from it. I'm sure that some users can provide valuable advice regarding
the publishing platform (paper vs electronic, which editor, self-publishing or
not, etc).
Also, what's your idea about the current documentation? Should the book benefit
to it? I'd like to, but then the choice of TeX makes it difficult.

> Recently, many efforts have been put into cleaning up the documentation. I
> think it would be a great idea to arrange it in order to publish a book about
> Liquidsoap along with the 1.0 release. Websites such as lulu.com make it
> really easy to publish a cheap book (< 10€) at virtually no cost for us. The
> idea would be more or less to concatenate all the documentation in
> http://savonet.sourceforge.net/doc-svn/documentation.html, make it
> homogeneous + proof-read it, add a gentle introduction to Liquidsoap, and
> select a subset of the reference API. We are starting to have quite many
> users and I'm sure that it would help to be able to learn about Liq in the
> metro / on the beach / far away from the internet distractions.
> What do you think? If you are motivated I could start something of the hg but
> I would clearly need your help on the technical parts...
