Hi Seann,

Thank you for your message. Several people have asked for such as
thing. I'm willing to add that feature to liquidsoap SVN, namely
adding dates (day, month, year) to our scheduling predicates (I've
been reluctant because it doesn't fit with some current implementation
choice, but I realize now that this choice is silly).

That being said, it's not such a great solution. You'll still need to
reload liquidsoap every now and then (e.g. when you realize that next
week is special for some reason and you want a dedicated playlist).
But it's simpler than writing your own scheduling system. Perhaps some
day we can propose something better directly within liquidsoap....

Cheers,

David

PS: I won't code that feature now, feel free to remind me if I forget,
by mail or by submitting a feature request on trac

David,

Thanks for the response, that does make sense to me, as I have been using Liquidsoap for a radio on a different system for a while. Using icecast and liquidsoap as a Music on hold provider for Asterisk has made the ability to change playlists a lot easier without the risk of impacting any active calls, and the change in the schedule for work hours, after work hours and at night, works perfectly, and I would like to set up some sort of holiday mode, but I guess I will do a custom solution until I see Liquidsoap able to handle that normally. Though being able to set a bit on the telnet client to play a special playlist instead of the ones scheduled, would be a neat idea as well, which would avoid your first concern though could be tricky to do in a way that doesn't break other things.

Once again, thank you for the information

Regards,
Seann
