I am willing to help debugging this. However, I need more informations..
In particular, you can test what metadata are retrieved when
liquidsoap resolves a request (file) by doing this:
  liquidsoap -r /path/to/file.mp3
It would be nice to have some files whose metadata should/were decoded
but are not.

Also, you should make sure that you have compiled liquidsoap with
taglib, which does metadata for all mp3 tracks.

Finally, a report to our bug tracker is always better since it helps
us to keep track of the pending issues:
