You're very right, and I had not forgotten about your comment. However
we could not find a good answer for the release from yesterday, we
were afraid of making things worse. In addition to this, somebody came
up with an example where output.dummy (any output, actually) creates
an undesired behavior.

Anyway, now that we released is a better time for trying new things.
So I've created a ticket (http://dev.sourcefabric.org/browse/LS-624)
and I hope we come up with a nice proposal there.
