hi, can you please keep us posted on the performance gain of the whole MP3 transcoding Liquidsoap-chain with and without Shine once you have rebuilt it?
A subjective listening test of this encoder, compared to Lame, would be really appreciated as well. The only qualitative test I could find was this one: http://listening-tests.hydrogenaudio.org/sebastian/mf-128-1/results.htm But raw results don't reflect whether it might sound good enough for a webradio. -- best regards, okay_awright <okay_awright AT ddcr DOT biz> [PGP key on request] On 28/07/2012 17:12, Martin Konečný wrote: > I tried compiling shine, but i get the following error: > > gcc -DPACKAGE_NAME=\"shine\" -DPACKAGE_TARNAME=\"shine\" > -DPACKAGE_VERSION=\"0.1.0\" -DPACKAGE_STRING=\"shine\ 0.1.0\" > -DPACKAGE_BUGREPORT=\"savonet-users@lists.sourceforge.net\" > -DPACKAGE_URL=\"\" -DPACKAGE=\"shine\" -DVERSION=\"0.1.0\" -DSTDC_HEADERS=1 > -DHAVE_SYS_TYPES_H=1 -DHAVE_SYS_STAT_H=1 -DHAVE_STDLIB_H=1 > -DHAVE_STRING_H=1 -DHAVE_MEMORY_H=1 -DHAVE_STRINGS_H=1 -DHAVE_INTTYPES_H=1 > -DHAVE_STDINT_H=1 -DHAVE_UNISTD_H=1 -DHAVE_DLFCN_H=1 -DLT_OBJDIR=\".libs/\" > -I. -Isrc/lib -g -O2 -fno-exceptions -Wall -O2 -fsigned-char -MT > src/bin/shineenc-main.o -MD -MP -MF src/bin/.deps/shineenc-main.Tpo -c -o > src/bin/shineenc-main.o `test -f 'src/bin/main.c' || echo > './'`src/bin/main.c > src/bin/main.c:27:18: error: main.h: No such file or directory > > > Doing a search for "main.h" comes up empty. > > Martin > > > On Fri, Jul 27, 2012 at 7:02 AM, Samuel Mimram <smim...@gmail.com> wrote: > >> I think that the main reason is that is has lower quality than usual >> encoders such as lame (no psy model, etc.), even though it is hard to >> really notice the difference... >> >> >> >> On Thu, Jul 26, 2012 at 8:02 PM, Martin Konečný < >> martin.kone...@sourcefabric.org> wrote: >> >>> I'm surprised this wasn't done by someone sooner after seeing it speeds >>> up x86 arch as well.
