Recording on win32 is still an ongoing process. Liquidsoap 1.1.1 was
the first build to provide an input operator, input.portaudio.

So, you should try to record using this operator. I believe that
Bill's use of in() fall backs to input.portaudio as well.

I'm happy to read that in()/input.portaudio() worked for him. As for
the vumeter, I wouldn't pay too much attention to it, this is more of
a debugging operator than something that should be used in prod and I
wouldn't be surprised if it turns out it may freeze liquidsoap
altogether..
