Hi, 2013/7/1 JD Buys <[email protected]>: > I just want to find out if I am still correct in saying that Shoutcast 2 > will not be supported in Liquidsoap?
It is not supported for now and we have no intent to do so in the near future. We have nothing against shoutcast 2 per say and we may change our position if our objections are cleared in the future. As I pointed out in: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg05790.html AOL's licensing term are dubious and unclear. AOL claims a patent licensing on any implementation of the protocol, under a license that is non transferable and non sublicenseable. It is our understanding that AOL is targeting implementations of the protocol into a single software product and that's it. As such, this license terms do not appear to allow implementation in a library, which may be re-used, shared and modified by others. For this reason, we do not think that AOL allows implementing the protocol into an open-source project like we are.
