Hi,

I'm trying to build liquidsoap-1.1.1-full on an openSUSE 13.1 x64 test
server. Our radio station is eventually going to move away from
sc_trans since it's no longer supported and not doing what we want it
to do any longer. The problem I'm having is that Liquidsoup provides
very poor and fragmented documentation, and there are multiple people
on the SHOUTcast forum that would like to use Liquidsoap with version
2.x of the DNAS, but can't because the instructions are so poor in
terms of building it on a non-Debian or non-Ubuntu distro. Reading the
instructions on the site was not helpful at all.

I read this page: http://savonet.sourceforge.net/doc-svn/build.html
and it really makes no sense to me. I have to say that this page:
http://savonet.sourceforge.net/doc-svn/documentation.html is also
confusing as the text:

"How to use: Start with the quickstart and make sure you learn how to
find help. Then it's as you like: go for another general tutorial, or
a specific example, pick a basic notion, or some examples from the
cookbook. If you've understood all you need, just browse the reference
and compose your dream stream." Has so many links for a new user to
click on that they're not going to know where to start. Since binaries
are only available for a few Linux distros, there should be easy to
follow and easy to read instructions with how to build it from source.
This fact that there isn't is keeping people from using the software,
and there's no editable wiki that anybody could edit to improve the
poor documentation.

I looked in the PACKAGES file and there's stuff in there I have no
idea about, and what to uncomment and I really don't feel like going
on a wild-goose chase in hopes of maybe finding something in some
documentation somewhere on, for instance, what "AO" is an if that's
needed. So right now, I have an untarred folder that I cannot do a
thing with and I want to know if there is any better documentation in
the works or if I can get some assistance on what I need to do to get
it to build.

Thank You,

Sam M
