Hi guys! Quick update on the project..

* Liquidsoap at FOSDEM 2020: we presented liquidsoap at FOSDEM 2020 a
couple of weekends ago. It was a fun experience! You can see the
presentation here: https://vimeo.com/388951779. Slides are here:
https://www.liquidsoap.info/fosdem2020/index.html#1

* Radio France at FOSDEM 2020: Radio France also did a presentation during
the conference. They explained how they have used liquidsoap and other
tools to build a massive streaming platform. I'm sure this could be of use
for many of y'all! The video of their presentation is here:
https://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/fosdem/2020/UB2.147/om_audio_streaming.mp4

* Ffmpeg support: we have merged support for ffmpeg video in both encoder
and decoder as well as support for ffmpeg filters. This should bring
support for almost anything ffmpeg can process, opening the gate for some
powerful video stream. Support is still a work in progress but feel free to
test it and report! Documentation for the %ffmpeg encoder is here:
https://www.liquidsoap.info/doc-dev/encoding_formats.html. Documentation
for the ffmpeg filters is here:
https://www.liquidsoap.info/doc-dev/ffmpeg_filters.html

* Roadmap: merging the ffmpeg support was the last big chunk of
functionalities we wanted to get in for the next release. We're sill
working on some important cleanup and internal rewrite but this shouldn't
impact the use and testing of the current master branch. We're hoping to
have a release by the spring, along with a first version of the book we've
been working on. Also, exciting is that we've started to look at potential
plans to support encoded data, as long as liquidsoap doesn't need to access
content, so for instance with no crossfade. This is a much-requested
feature so we'd be pretty stoked if if can work. Wouldn't be for the next
release, though, but stay tuned!

Romain
