Just in case somebody has the same problem and ends up here via google: The problem is with startx not working nicely together with polkit and the solution is described here:
http://blog.falconindy.com/articles/back-to-basics-with-x-and-systemd.html Basically you need to say "startx -- vt01" if you are logged in to tty1.
