Do you use 'dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot' from the git repo to compile them? if so, this should not be happening. If you otherwise compile Sawfish on your own, you'll need to pass
--libdir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu to configure. This is a general change in Debian for multi-arch support and we just followed it.
