I'm not having much luck getting bind9 set up. The instructions in
the following link don't really follow the Ubuntu naming schemes.

There was a related issue posted a while back here:

http://code.google.com/p/scalr/issues/detail?id=8#makechanges

Reviewing the code, it seems that this issue has been fixed. So, my
question is:

What is the proper way to set up the name server using Ubuntu? The
bind user is named "bind" and not "named". I have found varying
information on the proper directory for zone files. Some say /etc/bind/
zones and some say /var/cache/bind.

In any case, for testing I've tried just using the root user and it's
not working. I'm running scalr on the same server as bind and I've
authorized the elastic IP for this server on port 22. (Funny that it
is sshing into itself, but whatever...)

I've added default DNS entries as the admin user and as my "client"
user, but the named.conf file doesn't get changed and no zone files
are created. I've found no errors under Logs->System Log or Event or
Scripting.

I first followed the wiki using a user named "named" and then had
issues with the rights to rndc.key and noticed that the owner was a
user named "bind" so I gave this user a password and changed the bind
user's shell directory using the usermod command. This did not work.
That is when I resorted to using the root user login and I'm still
stuck.

Any advice or commands script on getting bind set up correctly would
be great. Thanks a million.
