Hi Alex,

MySQL on EBS is implemented out of the box on Scalr. For this select
'EBS' as a storage engine for mysql role on the farm edit page.

Regarding your setup - most likely, EBS is mounted after MySQL start
attempt (so datadir does not exist yet), or is not mounted at all (if
you haven't chosen automatic EBS mount for the role).

I'd suggest you using Scalr native MySQL+EBS implementation.
