I thought I'd go ahead and add here that the "new" duplicated roles do not inherit a non-standard SSH port after the synchronize. So, if the fix to the duplicate role problem is that you just need to delete the 'old' role, then you still need to make sure that the SSH port setting gets copied from the 'old' role to the 'new' one.
