I saw the new documentaiton site. It is very navigable and easy to understand.
The installation of scalr was quite difficult. There were many packages that were necessary but not listed at the time I installed my version of Scalr. However, I documented what I did in a puppet script and checked it into a subversion account. Now, installing scalr is very easy. I am having several issues with Scalr that I would like to see documented: *Behaviors:* I would like to create my own roles with behaviors but I find the behavior documentation terse and incomprhensible. There is a scalr-discuss topic on this but the only thing I got from this is that behaviors are complex. I would like to create a role that has several behaviors NFS, condor, and some other services that we need. Currently I am using the scripting engine. *Load Statistics:* I still haven't gotten the Load Statistics to work. It seems the images are not being created. *Openstack:* If I was using an Openstack cloud, how to I add roles to the entire site for Openstack. When I login as the scalr admin, I see that I can add a Shared Role of type openstack but I don't know how to enable that. Do I need to add some data to the scalr database? *Role parameters:* how are these used? Where can I access them? Some documentation here would be useful *Creating Roles:* The documentation on the site is incorrect for the latest opensource version of scalr. There is no way create a role with security rules or scripts in the client account. *Launch Order:* It would be nice have have the ability to specify launch order for roles in a server farm. I see a place holder in the code for this…are you planning on adding this in the future? *Messaging: * I need to be able to create a server farm where the nodes services need to start in certain order. It would be nice to create a behavior for this. How do I use scalr messaging to coordinate server farm startup? *Scalr API:* is it possible to extend the scalr api? For example I would like to be able to add scripts and clone server farms. *Scalarizer:* It seems that the scalarizr does not install in RHEL6. Is this something you planon addressing soon? My example, I am creating a condor cluster that has a head node and some worker nodes. The head node needs to know about the worker nodes once they come up. It would be nice to have the worker nodes say, "I'm here!" to the head node so that the head node could add them to the ALLOW list. *One role to rule them all: *Right now I am using a role for each node function: condor-head, condor-worker. It would be nice to have one role condor and then elect a head node. I am sure you are doing this with your db role. How do I accomplish this?
