I have Scalr configured to allocate an Elastic IP address to the instance. After the instance starts, scalr allocates the elastic IP correctly. However for some reason the hostname of the instance is not changing and some of my services which depend on a local lookup fail. For testing I rebooted the instance and the hostname is now set properly.
