HI Al, “Self-sufficient”.. Scalr has an integrated Orchestration/Automation component. You can use it “standalone” with your targeted cloud service, or use it in conjunction with a number of third party config management tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible.
Scalr does have a number of integrated functions for Chef integration, but it’s not necessary / required in any way.
