OLPC actually seems to be a robust enough concept & hardware that it's
somewhat popular. My roommate bought one of them, and has been really happy
with it. He uses it as a second laptop, so he doesn't have to haul around
his Alienware monstrosity; and it does great for that. the keyboard looks
pretty small; but it seems to be serviceable enough. Very simple, very
rational. Limited performance, but adequate for a lot of tasks. Kind of
reminds me of the old IBM z50 (solid state storage, low power, very
portable); but with a decent OS and a far crappier keyboard. (My z50 had one
of the best laptop keyboards ever!)

I even met a guy in Boston who's one of the developers for it. He's pretty
excited about the possibilities.
