I have used XWPE (available from www.identicalsoftware.com) at IIC extensively. I found that most people are happy when they see their familiar TC-like IDE. For the uninitiated, XWPE is "identical" to TC in look and feel. Even the key-strokes for common tasks are the same with Alt- replaced with Esc-. It works with gcc/g++ and is highly recommended for anyone who is already familiar with the TC IDE under DOS/Windows. I also found that once people had used XWPE (which incidentally runs on the console just as well as under X) they found it easier to migrate to a vi/emacs + gcc/g++ combination. This was possible as XWPE reports the commands that it uses to compile/run a program in the message window. So its users are finally aware of the actual gcc/g++ command used, unlike TC. I have come across good reports about RHIDE too but somehow never got down to trying it myself. PS: Time to shift the school-project related threads to [EMAIL PROTECTED] to avoid cluttering the main list and also for making the discussions more focussed. -- ------------------------------,_,------------------------------------ Vipul Mathur (O,O) mail at vipulmathur dot org http://vipulmathur.org/ ( ) vipul at linux-delhi dot org ------------------------------"-"------------------------------------ "There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path." -- Morpheus, "The Matrix"
