Tripta> Anyways, coming to the `worklplan'.

Tripta> <!--this is in the proposal state to the group and will be
Tripta> discussed in detail during the next meet. so open to
    Tripta> comments, criticism...and appreciation(as well)-->

Is that required? Let's just go ahead with the ideas and plans you
have put forth, that should keep us going for a while.

Tripta> As I have already mentioned elsewhere, I am conducting
Tripta> field research in the neighbourhood (to sarai/ rajpur
Tripta> road) so there are a lot of contacts and conversations
Tripta> being initiated. And it is not only important to have
Tripta> these conversations but ensure that long mutually
Tripta> beneficial relationships are established. Concentrating on
Tripta> this area to begin with i would suggest the following.

    Tripta> <<1>> Installation Demo;s

Tripta> Once a month, one volunteer from the Linux delhi group
Tripta> comes here (@sarai) to give an installation demo of the
Tripta> lap Cd. The audience could be from school lab assistants,
Tripta> college students, cyber cafe operators or school children
Tripta> (as these are the spaces i am basically venturing into at
Tripta> the moment). This demo should include a basic lap
Tripta> installation and other related issues that come up. We
Tripta> will provide the installation guide (which supreet and i
Tripta> will be preparing soon) along with the CD (the
Tripta> installation guide will be a low-cost easily reproduced,
Tripta> most probably A4 sheets in a small booklet format. the
Tripta> cost for both of these will be borne by sarai at the
    Tripta> moment)

Sounds good. I'm on for the demos, one or more, as long as th samosas
and kachoris are available. Is once a month enough? Can't we make it
more often if we have enough of an audience? And again, the biggest
question is that of getting the right audience in place. If as you
say in your earlier mail school-goers today aren't even aware that
there's something called free software and/or Linux, then we should be
targeting them too, maybe with demos, talks and free Knoppix (or
Debian/RH) CD's to get them into the loop. Anyone up to getting them
to Sarai for the talks?

    Tripta> [snip]

Tripta> As an understanding of the audience demand is reached and
Tripta> if there are other specific packages which can be
Tripta> demonstrated keeping in mind the needs. For instance, in
Tripta> this area there are a lot of small time publishers and
Tripta> someone could research and give a demo of the open source
Tripta> packages available it will be really great.

Mr Lingam seems to be the right person for this. What say? :-)

    Tripta> [snip]

    Tripta> <<2.>. Talks

Tripta> This will be in collaboration with Sarai. Once a month or
Tripta> once in two months, we invite someone to come and give a
Tripta> talk on any related issue. we can think of it thematically
Tripta> around certain issues we want to know more about or get
Tripta> excited about what the person in his/her own capacity has
    Tripta> to offer.

Tripta> we will have to have more conversations and discussions on
Tripta> this one as at the moment i am thinking aloud. However,
Tripta> these talks could be recorded, transcribed and made
Tripta> available on the website in pdf formats which can be then
Tripta> easily downloaded and printed from anywhere.

Also sounds good. RMS is coming to town again in early November, he's
automatically on I hope. Please coordinate with LL about his trip and
availability.

    Tripta> [snip]
