Human Rights and GIS Mapping Technologies

Lars Bromley, Project Director, AAAS

Lars Bromley will discuss his experiences applying high-resolution
satellite imagery, other remote sensing data, and mapping
technologies to human rights work in Darfur, Burma, Ethiopia, and
elsewhere. He will focus on the challenges of meeting user-needs
among non-governmental human rights organizations, the value of the
technologies for those organizations, and research and development
priorities.

Lars Bromley is a Project Director at the American Association for
the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He served as the principal
researcher and chief cartographer for the AAAS Atlas of Population
and Environment (http://atlas.aaas.org).
