Auburn Street, Suite 100, Room 106 [image: ine.gif] Lunch is provided if you RSVP. Please RSVP to *sts**@hks.harvard.edu* by 5pm Thursday, September 8. *Abstract:* Note-taking is one of those often overlooked practices that inform and shape intellectual activities of many kinds. I will offer an overview of the principal forms of note-taking in use in the European tradition (with an emphasis on pre-modern and early modern Europe) and suggest how these methods of working affected modes of writing. And I am eager to discuss how digital tools today are both extending past practices and transforming them. *Biography*: Ann Blair is the Henry Charles Lea Professor of History at Harvard University. She specializes in the cultural and intellectual history of early modern Europe (16th-17th centuries), with an emphasis on France. Her interests include the history of the book and of education, the history of the disciplines and of scholarship, early modern natural philosophy and its interactions with religion.
