Islands in the Stream of Environmental History
Islands have fascinated both environmental historians and environmentalists.
They have functioned both as laboratories for the study of human interactions
with the environment and as harbingers of dramatic environmental change. This
paper will explore these large themes using Atlantic and Pacific Islands as
examples.
