Please join us for the 2012-2013 season of the Boston Environmental History
Seminar.

The coming year will be the seminar’s twelfth. This year, the topics of
individual sessions will range from the impact of colonial settlers on New
England waterways, to urban rail trails, suburban land preservation, and
wilderness recreation. Our essayists include senior scholars, those at mid
career, and emerging talents in our profession. The complete schedule is
available athttp://www.masshist.org/events/behs.cfm.

Our first session for 2012-2013 will take place on Tuesday, October 9, at 5:15
p.m. at the MHS, 1154 Boylston Street, in Boston. Phoebe S. K. Young of the
University of Colorado at Boulder will present “‘Guests of the Nation’:
American Camping and Designs for Public Nature.” James C. O’Connell of the
National Park Service will comment.

As in the past, we are making the essays available to subscribers as .pdfs
through the seminar’s webpage,http://www.masshist.org/events/behs.cfm.
Subscribe to the 2012-2013 series online via this page to receive the full
