The coming year will be the seminar’s twelfth. This year, the topics of individual sessions will range from the impact of colonial settlers on New England waterways, to urban rail trails, suburban land preservation, and wilderness recreation. Our first session for 2012-2013 will take place on Tuesday, October 9, at 5:15 p.m. at the MHS, 1154 Boylston Street, in Boston. Phoebe S. K. Young of the University of Colorado at Boulder will present “‘Guests of the Nation’: American Camping and Designs for Public Nature.” James C. O’Connell of the National Park Service will comment.
