Hi!

I just finished updating FIDE photo file now containing
about 5450 images. Some of the older images were also
replaced by newer, usually better ones.

In case you find particularly bad ones it would be nice to
drop me a note with the FIDE ID and/or name of the player in
question, I could then try to see if something better is
available. (Scanning 5450 files by hand is a bit beyond my
capabilities, timewise, and usually I use CBs data if
available.)

If I did everything correctly it should be available now via
the file releases page at sourceforge.

Additionally, for those of you owning some version of CB's
Mega or some other source of their playerbase I've also
updated metadata to reuse their photo collection with Scid.
I found some renaming of the input-XML-files to be suitable,
updated versions are in CVS together with an updated edition
of the conversion script that should now generate suitable
idividual files and the new spi files in one go. (Beware,
this "go" takes some time ;)

Provided you've access to all of this a typical Scid startup
might look like this:

Found 9516 player photos in mega-2006.spf
Found 834 player photos in mega-2007-addon.spf
Found 1391 player photos in mega-2008-addon.spf
Found 41 player photos in mega-historic.spf
Found 28 player photos in historic.spf
Found 3546 player photos in FIDE.spf
Found 33 player photos in gm.spf

giving some 15389 photos in total. (Note: duplicates are
elminated on startup, that is why the above shows only
3546 images coming in from FIDE.)

Do not ask me about the mega-*.spf. I'll not give them away,
there is this copyright issue. If you've legal access to the
raw data you might create them, however, yourself using
Mega2Scid.pl in the scripts subdir.

Thanks to Mikhails recent additions for on demand photo
loading this amount of data is still usable, startup
very quick and the memory footprint very small! :)
