Hi!
Just got the following report:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1) When building up my own game databases from PGN file
downloads, I notice SCID handles adding the first one to an
existing base fine, but crashes when I try to add a second.
If I restart SCID, I can then add the second. Not an
insurmountable problem, but an annoyance if you're trying to
build a new base from multiple files. I was using a version
released back in the summer. I just downloaded the current
version and it appears to be doing the same thing.
2) In loading some PGN files from a commercial base I
bought, SCID had problems reading some heavily annotated
games. They load fine into Chessbase Light and Chess
Assistant Light, but WinBoard also has trouble with them. Is
this some kind of extension to PGN format that CB and CA are
using or are the annotations too heavily nested for SCID to
untangle?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never experienced the first point and can not reproduce it
with either 3.6.26 nor current CVS on Linux. Is there a
known issue on other platforms? Anybody ever experienced
this?
The only idea I have for the second one would be to large a
PGN (>32kB) or did anybody else experience such a problem
before? I've never found that as well and parts of CB's Mega
and some other games I've in my RefBase are "heavily
annotated" as well. Is there a known problem with probably
to many nested variations or something the like? (I'll try
to get a PGN sample for this issue.)
