Thanks a lot, g. The problem appeared when I tried to install 3D graphic libraries for a 3D graphic tool. I had the took work after I installed the nvidia drivers. Now I got nonveau driver back and so everything goes back to where I started. But still I'm happy with the freezing issue gone. I will worry about the 3D thing later.... Thanks again for your help.
