CD recording nowadays

Gents,
 i'm a bit ;) confused as of the current state of CD burning on our
platform. Back in the days it was cdrecord, now ... i'm not sure... I see
there is cdrtools and cdrkit... but neither(?) seemed to be included in the
main repo..
Please advise.
