It appears so......
I'll try and get this fixed up for SL 6.6, we try not to make too many
changes to released software.

Salut Victor,
I'm actually OK with the output of yum groupinstall : what's posing me a problem is the "yum grouplist
hidden" output : the "Base" group is marked as installed (because it is), but the Core one is
not, whereas it is installed - minus this "subscription-manager" package that's not even in the
repos...
Until now I based some parts of the nodes setup on yum groupinstall commands
for initial install, and on yum grouplist for subsequent puppet runs to prevent
yum groupinstalls over and over.
Unfortunately, this group is going to force me change the way I do the setup
just because of this behavior - or this missing mandatory package.
To make sure it is the missing package that is causing the Core group issue, I
will try to fake its presence...

Hi,
I made a quick test and it seems the behaviour you are observing is
normal and the whole problem is that the warning message is misleading:
# yum -y groupinstall core 2>&1 | tail -n 2
Warning: Group core does not have any packages.
No packages in any requested group available to install or update
# rpm -e xorg-x11-drv-ati-firmware
# yum -y groupinstall core 2>&1 | tail -n 2
Complete!
# yum -y groupinstall core 2>&1 | tail -n 2
Warning: Group core does not have any packages.
No packages in any requested group available to install or update
Cheers,
Victor
p.s.: the subscription-manager package is also missing here

Salut Victor,
Thanks, but no : I'm not recreating the repodata for the OS, as this is a
ticket to installation failures as you may remember.
Besides, if there was no information for the groups, I don't think the groups
would appear as 'available'.
One thing I did not mention is that the "yum groupinfo -v" command does display
a repository for all packages but one that's by the way mandatory: subscription-manager
I can't find this one in the (local ?) repos.
Maybe that's the cause (?)

Hi,
You've probably dropped all the group file metadata by running
"createrepo" on your local mirror.
If that is the case it can be solved by adding "-g <compsXMLfile>" to
the "createrepo" command for the OS base repository.
Cheers,
Victor
