I think I wrote a few weeks ago that "Ghost Whisperer" was weak, but
might succeed if the "Touched By An Angel" crowd glommed onto it. I can
only figure that's what happened. I watched one show that I found to be
weak and emotionally manipulative. I then caught part of a second, and
it was a yawn. But I guess it's pulling in those who like easy feel-good
drama.
I'm hoping "Threshold" gets to continue. It has potential.

CBS bullish on 'Ghost,' 'Minds,' 'Mother'

By Andrew Wallenstein

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - CBS has given full-season pickup
orders
to three of its new series, the dramas "Ghost Whisperer" and "Criminal
Minds" and the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother."

The "back-nine" orders confirmed Wednesday bring the total number of
episodes ordered on all three shows to 22.

"Ghost Whisperer," starring Jennifer Love Hewitt as a woman who can
communicate with the dead, has proved to be a self-starter for the eye
network in the 8 p.m. Friday slot. The series has so far averaged 11.1
million viewers and a 2.9 rating/10 share in the adults 18-49
demographic,
according to Nielsen Media Research.

"Criminal Minds," an FBI drama starring Mandy Patinkin and Thomas
Gibson,
has had a more challenging time facing off at 9 p.m. Wednesday against
ABC's "Lost." show has averaged 11.3 million viewers and a 3.3/8 in
adults
18-49.

"How I Met Your Mother" has done a respectable job so far in the 8:30
p.m.
Monday slot, holding or building slightly on its "The King of Queens"
lead-in and improving CBS' year-to-year performance in the time period.
After four airings to date, "Mother" has averaged 10.4 million viewers
and
a 3.7/9 in the key demo.

CBS also has demonstrated a measure of faith in two other fall
newcomers,
the Friday drama "Threshold" and the 9:30 p.m. Monday comedy "Out of
Practice," by ordering three additional scripts for both shows.
