egocentric it's pitiful. You'd be amazed how many people I talk to
think I have a third eye or something if I say i'll watch a foreign film
with subtitles! :)

I think movie quality would improve if movies were tailored to a
worldwide box office. I think the movies geared to the US are very
formulaic and are designed for short attention spans. Since moving to
Mexico, I have seen some extremely interesting science fiction,
mysteries and thrillers that were made in Europe, Asia, Australia, New
Zealand and Latin America. While most of them are available on DVD, I've
never seen them premiered in theaters or even on cable. However, they
are shown hear on HBO, Cinemax,etc. I can not say I liked them all,
and some make me feel like I've been on a psychedelic mushroom trip, but
most of them had me discussing it and thinking bout it at the end. Not
to many films in the US do that to me anymore. I think if the studies
really started going after international audiences, with would see much
more original stuff.
